EAGER parents made sure to attend Windermere’s Baby Wise Forum in Cranbourne last week.
The event gave parents the opportunity to meet other local families and learn about the child services available to them in the community.
Windermere’s Parent Wise advocate Bronwyn Owen says the forum works with families and gives them information on how to raise children in the most positive way.
“It’s a very popular opportunity for families to talk face to face with service providers,” she said.
“It’s more personal because you’re having a conversation and seeing what’s out there.”
As well as expert therapist presentations, the baby forum included a range of service providers who were in attendance including Maternal Health, Safe Start, Good beginnings, Centrelink, Medicare and Dads Matter. There were also a range of activties for children to get involved with at the forum, including badge making and performances from The Music Man.
“The forum went really well, we were happy with the amount of people who attended,” Ms Owen said.
“It’s really just a different way to work with families.”
Windermere Parent Worker Cheryl Rohan said the forum had become an important event for the community.
“Parents with concerns over child development can come and speak to nurses,” she said.
“The idea is that they build an increased knowledge of family development.”
