Partnership spanning three decades

MELBOURNE Football Club (MFC) captains visited Casey on Tuesday as part of the club’s annual Australia Post AFL Community Camp in Casey this week.
Co-captains Jack Grimes and Jack Trengove met with Mayor Amanda Stapledon at a civic reception to celebrate the club’s 30-year partnership with the council.
A number of players from the club have also visited Casey throughout the week as part of the camp to conduct a number of activities in schools including ‘Read Like a Demon’ and school crossing safety programs.
Cr Stapledon said many people might not be aware of all the work that MFC does in the community at schools, sporting clubs and community events.
“Through a genuine 30-year partnership, the City of Casey and Melbourne Football Club is successfully delivering business, sport and community development activities to benefit the local area,” she said.
“Last year, the Melbourne Football Club estimated that their investment in the Casey community was $2.3 million to deliver community, business, education and recreation programs and activities to the City of Casey, and they can regularly be seen training at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East.”
The community is invited to watch MFC play an intra-club match at Casey Fields tomorrow (Friday) from 9am to 11.30am.”
