A wild time in the Old West

WITH cowboys, indians, can-can dancers and a range of outrageous characters, BATS Theatre Company’s upcoming youth show has something for everyone.
The cast will be performing The Saga of Sagebrush Sal at the Cranbourne Community Theatre during the first week of the school holidays, from Monday 26 to Thursday 29 September.
The production tells the story of Sagebrush Sal, who decides to take over the busiest establishment in town – the Bloody Turnip Saloon.
The saloon’s owner Jake the Snake doesn’t like the idea, but when Sal kills all of his customers with one bullet, Jake snakes out.
In the meantime, Sal’s “delectable, oversized, man-crazy” daughter Hazeltine has her troubles with the world’s shyest white-hat hero, Heartbleed Haymeadow.
Director Dale Mills said the show was filled to the brim with audience interaction including singing, dancing, humour and action and was something that could be enjoyed by all ages.
“As always I am enjoying working with a great cast and the laughs are many,” he said.
“Being able to put our own touches of humour into the script is especially fun and this has allowed us to have representatives of a world renown children’s group in the cast.
“So wake up and don’t miss your chance to participate in all the fun.”
