STUDENTS at Lyndhurst are ready to fight it out to take out the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge 2011.
A group of 30 students, from across all years levels, will take to the stage at Hisense Arena tomorrow to perform their dance, drama and design piece ‘Broken’.
Year 12 student, Alexiel Ruaporo, who helped choreograph the hip-hop sections, said their performance was based around a war theme.
“Our teacher came up with the idea, as the boys involved wanted to do some hip-hop and the girls wanted to do contemporary dance,” he said.
“The boys go off to war and two of us are killed.
“We are able to incorporate the hip-hop dancing into the war scenes, and the girls do their contemporary dancing when we go off to war and when we pass away.”
Alexiel said he was proud of their end result.
“It’s been really enjoyable,” he said.
“And I think we came up with something really entertaining.”
Teacher Catherine Blackburn said she was so proud of all the students involved.
“Rock Eisteddfod is a great opportunity to get kids involved in the performing arts,” she said.
“I’m very proud of everyone, especially the seniors kids who have been juggling rehearsals with VCE, jobs and other commitments.”
