STUDENTS at Cranbourne Secondary College learnt a valuable lesson last week, about cyber bullying and the consequences of sending explicit images to others.
Police youth resource officers did a presentation to the Year 9 students which covered cyber bullying and law.
Students viewed a video titled ‘photograph’, which tackled the problems of sending inappropriate explicit photos or messages electronically to other people.
The video took place in a secondary school setting and was about a student who got caught up in texting explicit images to another student, who then sent the material out to other students.
Cranbourne SecondaryCollege student wellbeing co-ordinator Jan McAleese said the officer put together an easy to understand presentation that had the student population talking afterwards.
“They clearly stated the facts about the consequences of this important issue,” she said.
“It was clearly an excellent forum which promoted discussion about what can be sensitive issues involving teenagers and the repercussions which implicate the laws relating to child pornography.”
