CRANBOURNE East Primary School celebrated Harmony Day in fitting fashion on Monday, with the whole school community coming together to unite as one.
All 444 students and 28 teachers took part in the Harmony Day circle and held hands to create a chain around the school oval.
The theme of this year’s Harmony Day was ‘Everybody Belongs’. The circle of everyone holding hands represented the Harmony Day logo.
Teacher Jyoti Funston said the activity was held for a number of reasons.
“The aim of the activity was to acknowledge individual differences, celebrate diversity in the school community and promote a sense of belonging to Cranbourne East Primary School,” she said.
Ms Funston said it was particularly important to celebrate the day, and they have a diverse range of cultural backgrounds at the school.
On the day, students also took part in an activity in which junior and senior grades worked together to talk about what it means to belong to their family, friends, community and school. Students then traced around their hands on orange paper, the official Harmony Day colour, and illustrated the Harmony Day message of ‘everyone belongs’.
