Dig time with your dad

THE City of Casey is offering a program to help men foster better relationships with their children.
The Dads Matter program offers interactive, inclusive and exciting programs for men to join in with their children aged up to six years old.
The programs, targeted specifically to dads, step-dads, grandfathers and other men who play an integral role in a child’s life, are being embraced by local men.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes praised the initiative.
“The range of free activities, information and support services on offer to dads in the City of Casey reflects our commitment to recognising the important role men play in their family structure,” Cr Balmes said.
By offering a range of programs just for dads, the City of Casey is also developing social networks and support channels among dads.
The Dads Matter programs are available throughout the week, all year round.
City of Casey Manager Youth and Family Services Colette McMahon said the loose format of many of the programs allowed dads to come and go as their schedules permit.
She said the weekend activities had also proved popular.
“These programs aim to ensure that the time that dads have with their kids is real quality time,” she said.
Programs on offer include Dig it With Dad gardening program, the Cook it With Dad Cooking program and Pizza, Playstation and Paper Planes.
All these programs are free and give local dads a chance to spend quality time with their kids while meeting other dads.
For inquiries and bookings contact the City of Casey on 9705 5590.
