Cord blood cash raised

CRANBOURNE Inner Wheel ladies raised about $400 for cord blood research, but say the treatment is still relatively unknown in the community.
Inner Wheel members have held the Coin for a Cord Day for the past eight years and have raised $1.3 million.
The Cranbourne ladies took part on Coin for a Cord Day by selling merchandise at Centro shopping centre on 30 April.
The research includes finding new and better ways of using umbilical cord blood to successfully treat children and adults with leukaemia and other diseases.
Secretary of Cranbourne Inner Wheel Kate Luxford said the comments from people at the shopping centre last week indicated cord blood was still somewhat unheard of.
