THE Lions Club of Balla Balla celebrated four years of hard work on Sunday during their official charter presentation.
The Lions District Governor for the area Tom Shillito carried out the official duties on the day as members of the club were presented with their set of international flags at Amstel Golf Club in Cranbourne.
Over the four years members have raised about $30,000 for local coastal village groups and events such as Australia Day activities, the Tooradin Tractor Pull and the Tooradin market.
President Colin Butler said the presentation day was fantastic because members could celebrate their efforts.
“There has been a lot of hard work over the four years and we’ve probably been one of the most active branches of Karingal,” Mr Butler said.
There are 21 members of the club and more are welcome.
“It has taken a while to get our membership, but in the last 12 months it has grown very quickly and we’ve been very happy,” Mr Butler said.
Mr Butler said the Balla Balla Lions Club was formed when a former Lion, who lived in Tooradin, spoke to the then district governor.
Mr Butler said residents joined Lions because of its support for both local and national community projects.
