MORE than 60 entrants competed for prizes valued at $3000 at Cranbourne Turf Club in the I Love Frankston Cup’s Fashions on the Field event on 8 November.
It was the second year the competition had been held on the I Love Frankston Cup Day, with Kirsten Sawyer taking first place in Fiona’s of Mornington Fashions on the Field Competition.
Milliner Melissa Jackson, a judge at this year’s Flemington Fashions on the Field, hosted the competition.
Judges were local milliner Jackie Newman and the owners of Fiona’s of Mornington, Erica MacPherson and Victoria Moloney.
The judges awarded first place to Ms Sawyer because her outfit was well coordinated and weather appropriate.
“I changed my mind (about what to wear) at the last minute because it was so hot,” Ms Sawyer said.
She won a $1000 voucher for Fiona’s of Mornington, as well as a dress and a bag.
Ms Sawyer is now in the running to win the Country’s Best Dressed Racegoer crown, voted by the public by an online poll on the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival website.
