St Peters College to open new campus

A NEW state-of-the-art campus for St Peter’s College in Cranbourne is expected to cater for about 1000 students in less than two years time, and about 100 students in seven years.
After months of negotiating and planning, the announcement of the new high-tech campus was made earlier this week by the Bishop of Sale Christopher Prowse and Parish Priest of St Agatha’s Fr Andrew Wise.
The modern Catholic college campus will sit on 20 acres of land at Berwick-Cranbourne Road in Cranbourne East. Construction of stage one is expected to be completed by November 2010 in time for Year 7 enrolments for 2011.
The campus is expected to eventually develop into a Year 7 to 12 college by 2016, with a student population of approximately 1000 students.
St Peter’s College Principal Tim Hogan said the new facility was a great opportunity for the college to build on its reputation in the Cranbourne community.
“This allows us to extend to an even greater number of families the invitation of an education for their children which is centred in Christ, always encouraging them to value effort and strive for excellence so that they are challenged to be the best they can be,” Mr Hogan said.
The new campus will feature state-of-the-art facilities and classroom designs will incorporate flexible learning spaces to allow for a variety of teaching and learning styles.
“This is as progressive as it gets,” Mr Hogan said.
The curriculum would reflect the rich traditions of Catholic education by nurturing students’ spiritual relationship with Jesus as well as their academic, intellectual, physical and social needs, Mr Hogan said. An information night for prospective Year 7, 2011, students will be held on 18 November at St Peter’s College at 7.30pm.
