Bikers beyond blue

THE charity partner for this year’s MRA Cranbourne GP Run, beyondblue, will have the opportunity to raise awareness about depression and anxiety at the event.
beyondblue will have a marquee set up in Childers Street on the day of the wave-off, on 17 October, for people to visit and find out about depression and anxiety and where to get help.
beyondblue is a national, independent, not-for-profit organisation working to address issues associated with depression, anxiety and related substance use disorders in Australia.
Chief executive of the organisation, Leonie Young, said she was delighted the City of Casey would work with beyondblue to raise awareness about depression and anxiety.
“These are common illnesses that can affect people from all walks of life. We want everyone to know that help is available and, with the right treatment, most people recover,” she said.
Casey councillor and chairperson of the MRA Cranbourne GP Run organising committee, Kevin Bradford, said beyondblue was renowned for doing a great job in raising awareness about depression and anxiety and related drug and alcohol problems.
“The MRA Cranbourne GP Run organising committee was extremely pleased to nominate beyondblue as this year’s charity for one of the city’s premier events,” Cr Bradford said.
Thousands of people gather in the streets of Cranbourne for the wave-off as motorcycle enthusiasts travel to the Phillip Island track for the Grand Prix.
