STUDENTS from Lyndhurst Secondary College and Hampton Park Secondary College took part in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge Grand Finals last week.
More than 4000 students from across the state took the Hisense Arena stage to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Rock Eisteddfod Challenge through dance, design and drama.
Event manager Mikaela Dockrill said the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge started 30 years ago, with just eight schools taking part.
“It is so exciting to see how the event has grown and to celebrate 30 years of youth creativity and expression with three massive nights of grand final events,” Ms Dockrill said.
Students’ performances were based around a variety of themes, including a journey of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, Paul Rusesabagina and his role in saving thousands during the Rwandan genocide, and a Gothic take on the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.
“All schools displayed an inspiring amount of talent and dedication at the events, resulting in three spectacular nights of youth expression and creativity,” Ms Dockrill said.
