Man injured in assault

POLICE are investigating an assault in Pearcedale where a man was struck about the head with a metal object about 7pm on Tuesday night.
Police said two men who were known to each other went to a shed at the rear of a property on Baxter-Tooradin Road where a 38-year-old used what was believed to be a hammer and struck a 49-year-old.
The 38-year-old left the premises after the attack, police said.
The injured man drove to a nearby factory on Bollarto Road where the police were contacted.
The injuries the man sustained were believed to be serious, but not life threatening, police said.
He was taken to Casey Hospital for treatment.
Police are still looking for the 38-year-old.
