HAMPTON Park Netball Club received a $500 cheque from Cranbourne North Safeway last week for its efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle to children.
The club was one of many community groups around Australia to receive a grant as part of the Fresh Food Kids Community Grants program run by Woolworths. Hampton Park Netball Club president Larry Simpson said the club received the grant for its initiatives among primary school children.
“It will be used for training aids for our under-13 players and go towards our “net, set and go” program for children aged between eight and 11,” Mr Simpson said.
As part of its campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle for school-aged children, Woolworths was looking for fresh ideas across food and nutrition, exercise and physical activity. Marty Hamnett, general manager Supermarket Operations for Woolworths, said groups that were developing ideas or needed help funding projects that promote a healthy lifestyle for children were encouraged to apply for the grants.
“So many communities are already developing fresh and innovative ideas and activities that promote a healthy life-style for children,” he said. “We are thrilled to be able to assist such groups achieve success.”
