A GROUP of senior students at Casey Grammar School organised a head-shaving fundraiser and raised $1500 for charity.
The Year 12 boys came up with the idea to organise the event and raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. Six students and six staff members had their heads shaved on Friday, but kept their new look to a “number two” so as to adhere to school policy.
Head of operations at the Cranbourne school, Simon Beaumont, said he was proud of the boys and their initiative to organise the whole-school event.
“We had about 95 per cent of the kids there from the whole school and most of the staff came to have a look and a laugh,” Mr Beaumont said.
“It was a great day. We had some music going and the kids had a great time.”
Mr Beaumont said the students were inspired to organise the event after a successful bushfire fundraiser at the school.
Given last week’s success, Mr Beaumont said the head shave could become an annual event at the school.
