Sporting speakers

By Bridget Brady
TWO prominent figures from the sporting world will be the guest speakers at the Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce (CCC) quarterly meeting this month.
Four-time premiership captain and Hawthorn stalwart Michael Tuck and Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club president Michael Taylor will be the special guests at the meeting.
Newly elected president Judy Davis said she wanted to encourage all members and those interested in finding out more about the CCC to come along to the dinner meeting on 24 March.
“The chamber is moving forward, so we would invite everyone to come along and see what we are all about,” Ms Davis said.
As reported in the News last week, Ms Davis said she wanted to raise the profile of the chamber, increase membership numbers, and make it an active and leading group within Cranbourne.
“I have had comments from people who did not realise Cranbourne had a chamber of commerce…we want to be an active group within the community. The more people that can work with us, including customers, the more we can do for them.”
Ms Davis said she wanted the chamber to be the regular host of guest speakers at their meetings, because business owners could learn a lot and be inspired by individuals.
Mr Tuck is the VFL/AFL games record holder and Mr Taylor was a first class batsman for Victoria and Tasmania and has won the Ryder Medal- Victoria’s highest individual cricket award.
The meeting was also an excellent networking opportunity for Cranbourne traders, Ms Davis said.
The theme of the evening is Change Seasons, and people are asked to dress in their favourite team colours.
The cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. The two-course dinner meeting will be held at the Casey Scorpions Function Room at Casey Fields from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on 24 March.
