Lucky seeks new home

The dog had a lucky escape when animal carers rescued it from the 12-metre-deep old quarry in the Lynbrook area.
Ray Lord from the RSPCA said the dog, given the name Lucky by its rescuers, was in good health and ready for adoption because its owners were never found.
“Sadly, we never found out who the owners were. We’ve been holding the dog in anticipation that the owners would come forward, but sadly no one has so the animal will now go out for adoption,” Mr Lord said.
“The owners never came forward and we never knew who they were.”
Mr Lord said the dog was not micro-chipped, after initial information that it was.
The dog was rescued when passers-by spotted two ears sticking up out of the quicksand on the weekend of Black Saturday.
It was first suggested that the dog be shot because the rescue attempt looked like being difficult, but Nigel Williamson from Nigel’s Animal Rescue, and Barrie Tapp from the Animal Cruelty Hotline were determined to save the dog and co-ordinated the rescue, which took about four hours.
They used two inflatable jet skis as if they were boogie boards during the delicate rescue.
