Two-up for Hampton Park

HAMPTON Park’s two sides have made flying starts to the 2008/09 RVBA Pennant season.
Both teams have won their opening two matches in divisions four and six respectively.
The Parkers played host to Balmoral Gardens in division four on the weekend, with the hot, windy conditions troubling all players.
Jim Westwell, Fred McBrian, Larry Simpson and skip Graham Slight benefited from a great start to record a 39-18 victory.
Les Unwin, Sean McDonald, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie won 17 ends to beat their opposition 41-14.
Vince Kovacic, Andrew Brandolin, Zac Storm and skip Lionel Williams lost 20-24.
It took 17 ends before Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Bob Woodfield could break away and eventually win 30-18.
Scores: Hampton Park 16-130 d Balmoral Gardens 2-74
In Division 6 action, Ray Wood, Wally Waterman, Mark Paton and skip Robert Naismith had to fight hard to defend their lead, winning 22-16.
Bob Meany, Jos Van Hout, Paul Barna and skip Rob Woff led throughout, posting a 28-16 triumph.
Gerry Cox, Alan Wilcock, Allan March and skip Bill Webb lost 14 shots on the last four ends before succumbing 17-29.
Keith McCarthy, Allan Unwin, Bob Nicol and skip Greg Pentland got steamrolled at the start and never recovered in a 10-42 defeat.
Scores: Berwick (6) 14-103 d Hampton Park (2) 4-77.
