Supplier works to improve peak service

ELECTRICITY supplier SP AusNet says it is supporting growth in the region by improving load capacity during peak times.
SP AusNet will invest more than $815,000 in major improvement and reliability works in Cranbourne, Hampton Park, Devon Meadows, Pearcedale and surrounding areas.
Customers in the area may experience planned outages during the work but people will be notified.
SP AusNet spokesperson Natasha Whalley said the company would improve capacity during peak times such as summer when air conditioners were in high use.
Ms Whalley said the works would improve reliability and capability of electricity supply for more than 48,000 customers.
“Our crews have been carrying out works in Cranbourne, with upgrades to overhead powerlines, animal proofing of equipment and installation of remote control switches,” Ms Whalley said.
“Remote control switches that can help reduce the number of customers affected by an outage when there is a storm or a tree falls on a powerline are being installed at strategic locations in the area.”
The works are part of SP AusNet’s five-year electricity distribution reliability improvement strategy, which will see the company invest more than $69 million to improve electricity supply throughout its network.
