FRESH fruit and vegetables, and arts and crafts will be available at next weekend’s Tooradin Market.
The non-profit market, which is held on the third Sunday of every month, is run by the Tooradin Progress Association.
Association vice-president Thelma Stratov, who has been involved with the market for two years, said proceeds from the market were donated to local schools and various community organisations.
The Tooradin Market is situated on War Memorial Island, along the South Gippsland Highway, and runs from 8am to 2pm.
The regular 70 stall holders sell a variety of goods, including tools, plants, nuts, cakes, tea and coffee and jewellery.
“You name it, the market has it,” laughed Ms Stratov.
She said the market attracted not only locals but also tourists travelling to Phillip Island.
“Tooradin is the only town on the highway from Cranbourne to Phillip Island,” she said.
Balla Balla Ward councillor Colin Butler, who helped establish the market 10 years ago, said it was great to see how the market had grown over the years.
“There was a need for the market. We wanted to make everyone aware of what Tooradin had to offer,” Cr Butler said.
