CRANBOURNE South Primary School students have ‘stormed’ through the Wakakirri state finals.
The students’ story about Cyclone Larry in Queensland swept them into second place in the national story festival finals last Friday.
Coordinator Kerri Noy said the team had performed superbly in front of the 2000-plus audience at Vodafone Arena.
“We were so ecstatic about our performance, which we believe provides the students with a wide array of learning opportunities,” she said. “Our story has taught us that by working as a team and creating unity amongst each other, whether it be at school or in the larger community, there can be a positive result.”
With 84 students on stage for the performance and eight staff involved, Mrs Noy congratulated everyone involved and thanked them for giving so much time and energy to providing the students with an experience they would never forget. The music in the performance was all by Australian performers and the kids also composed their own song, which concluded the act.
Mrs Noy said the words of the song highlighted working together as a team.
They sang: “We took for granted all the good things we had. Then out of the blue the weather turned bad. The city was wreaked, our houses were lost and now we sit here counting the cost. If we work together we can rebuild again and make this place better than it’s been.”
