OVERHEAD power lines will no longer distort the view through parts of Cranbourne.
The power lines on Sladen Street are coming out this week as part of the duplication of the road.
Workers have almost finished installing over 3000 metres of underground cabling between Hall Road and Scott Street.
Greg Plant, from Powerplant Project Services, the company that is managing the electrical works project, said the work would significantly improve the amenity of the area.
“This project is the largest undergrounding project of this nature completed within the City of Casey,” Mr Plant said.
“Many residents have had contact with our contractors, who have installed new underground cables on or near to their properties as part of works.”
The electrical project includes the installation of the underground cabling, the establishment of new switching stations at strategic points along the route of the project, installation of new service pits and private underground service cabling on properties fronting Sladen Street in the area of works, and the removal of existing above ground electrical network between Hall Rd and Scott Street.
Existing street lighting will be retained in the area.
