IT WAS a topsy-turvy day at a Hampton Park school last week as kids got their own back by bossing around their teachers for the day.
To raise money for Very Special Kids, a charity that supports the families of children with a life-threatening illness, students at Kilberry Valley Primary School dressed in casual clothes last Thursday while the teachers came in their school uniforms.
The school raised nearly $1000 at the Topsy Turvy Day, bringing the organisation closer to its $110,000 target for the annual Very Special Kids House Appeal.
Special events coordinator at the school, Lisa Cain, said the event was not only a great fundraising event, but fun for everyone at the school.
“The children had a great day,” she said. “They particularly loved seeing all their teachers dressed up and looking like the students for a change.
“They especially enjoyed ‘trying’ to give detentions to the teachers.”
The teachers also had fun regressing to their childhood and reliving their school days.
