A CRANBOURNE man and his family held a special thought for his brother as the motorbike riders roared past at the MRA Cranbourne GP Run on Saturday.
Troy Fawke said he had attended the GP Run every year but this year held a special significance.
His brother Graeme Fawke died in a motorbike accident just over a year ago. “Now we will be down here every year in memory of him,” he said.
Mr Fawke, who rides trail bikes, said his brother was always involved in the run down to the MotoGP in Phillip Island so it was particularly symbolic that they pay a tribute for him among the thousands of motorcyclists.
“We used to be down here for him so it’s only fitting that we keep coming down for him,” he said.
His daughter Ashley, 7, and son Sean, 15, also came along to remember their uncle.
Friend Jodi Hill, who runs recycled clothing and furniture store Wicked Bits and Pieces on Camms Road, said she would also have a beer to remember her good mate.
“He’ll be in the pub right now,” she said on Saturday morning. “We’ll go have a drink with him later.”
Ms Hill said she had not known Troy would be there and it brought back lots of memories of Graeme as they looked so alike. “I had tears in my eyes later on,” she said.
