TOORADIN’S long-awaited first supermarket will open next week.
The state-of-the-art FoodWorks store on the South Gippsland Highway offers shoppers a wide range of groceries, fresh produce, deli and quality meat.
Open seven days a week, the supermarket will employ up to 20 locals.
Store manager and part owner Ross Mills said the new store would be a major boost to the local economy.
“We understand the importance of our local community and our plans are to be highly involved and to actively support and sponsor local schools, sporting clubs and other community groups,” he said.
“We firmly believe that we need to give back to the community that supports us.
“This brand new site was developed by Stan and Josephine Burnett who are local to this area and the construction of the site was undertaken by local builders.”
Mr Mills said the supermarket would transform the quiet coastal village into a growing seaside attraction.
“We picked Tooradin for our store as it is a wonderful growing community situated just 50 kilometres from Melbourne,” he said.
“What used to be a sleepy seaside village is changing with a new child-care centre and plans for a marina.
“We are very pleased to be involved in this development and hope to grow with the Tooradin community in the coming years,” he said.
