FILM directors in training at Cranbourne Secondary College will get their first taste of stardom in the school’s upcoming film festival.
Year 12 media students have been busy scripting, producing, directing and editing short films, which will go before an audience at the Cranbourne Community Theatre on Thursday, 12 October.
Media teacher George Massouris said as part of the course, students had to create a five to 10-minute film then present it to their peers.
“It’s a bit of fun,” Mr Massouris said. “We do it every year.”
He said the films ranged from music video clips to dramatic pieces.
The students also mastered iMovie on Apple and other digital editing programs to edit their short films.
“They’ve been able to have some fun with the editing so it’s been good,” Mr Massouris said.
“Friday is the hand-in day so they’re furiously putting them together.”
Tickets are on sale at the school for $5 each for the festival, which runs from 7pm to 10pm.
Half of the profits go towards a charity of the students’ choice and the other half goes back into the program.
