CRANBOURNE Secondary College students were set to razzle and dazzle audiences last night when their drama spectacular, The Payback, premiered at the school theatre.
Described as ‘Blues Brothers come Sister Act’ by coordinator and teacher Lin Liu, The Payback will be on stage for the final time tonight, and tickets are still available.
The performance soundtrack features plenty of Motown music and also includes some classic 1960s and 70s rock.
Ms Liu said the final performance would be the culmination of months of hard work.
“We’ve all been freaking out for the past two months bringing it all together,” she said.
“The Payback was co-written by students and teachers, it has been a massive effort to get it to the stage.
“It has a gangster vibe, but will also appeal to girls because of the love interests in the script.
“There’s good versus evil, and an alcoholic overcoming his addiction,” Ms Liu said.
Cranbourne student Ryan Anderson helped write the script, and also features as an assistant director.
Student Keke Malaesilia choreographed most of the dance moves.
The final performance swings into action at 7pm today (Thursday).
Adults are $10, children under five are $5. Tickets at the door.
