CASEY school students have adopted the English Commonwealth Games team and are ready to make them feel welcome.
The initiative is part of council’s Commonwealth Games Adopt a Second Team program, which is designed to create links between local students and English Commonwealth Games athletes.
City of Casey manager arts and leisure Ms Robyn Bowen said the program involved students creating messages to welcome and support English athletes during their stay in Melbourne.
“The City of Casey will assign students to English athletes or teams and facilitate communication between schools and Team England,” she said.
“Local schools have been contacted to participate in the program, which will start in early 2006.”
Schools need to complete their registration form by Friday, 9 December.
More information on the school Adopt an Athlete program is available on the City of Casey’s website at www.casey.vic.gov.au or by contacting the Events Unit on 9705 5200.
