STAR News Group will lead this year’s MRA Cranbourne GP Run as thousands of motorbike riders roar through town.
As a major sponsor and exclusive media partner, Star News Group will help see off this year’s popular event on Saturday, 16 September. Thousands of motorcycle riders will line High Street to travel to the MotoGP at Phillip Island.
The event will include a surprise celebrity wave-off, breakfast stalls, car displays and Australian Motorcycle Expo GP Run Pocket Bikes, entertainment and kids’ activities.
Star News Group managing director Paul Thomas said the News was renowned for its support of local community events and was happy to become involved in the MRA run.
“We have worked with the City of Casey in a number of initiatives over the years and this should be another successful partnership,” Mr Thomas said. “This continues the company’s long commitment to supporting community events.”
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford welcomed Star News Group as one of the major sponsors.
“With such support, hopefully will come greater public awareness of such an important event as the MRA Run,” Cr Bradford said.
“It is the City of Casey’s largest event, attracting in the vicinity of 10,000 people.
“As such we are committed to ensuring the event grows and becomes an even bigger icon, not only in the south east but across Melbourne.”
News advertising executive Michelle Barker will ride at the head of the run on her Yamaha FZR 250.
The event starts from 8am, with the celebrity wave-off at 10am.
