School shoots for stars

CRANBOURNE South Primary School students slam dunked the opposition to reach the state finals of the McDonald’s Hoop Time basketball competition last week.
The talented team beat more than 25,000 children from across the state to battle it out against the top 23 schools at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium on Tuesday.
Playing in the Junior Future Stars competition for Years 3 and 4 students, Cranbourne South played seven games to reach the qualifying final.
Although they failed to move on to the next round, principal Joseph Kelly said the school was extremely proud of the team’s success.
“The children have worked so well together, reflecting the values of the school’s You Can Do It program – confidence, persistence, organisation and getting along.
“The children are already keen to start training for next year’s competition,” he said.
