CRANBOURNE Preschool children hope locals will get into the swing of things in a rock ‘n’ roll night this weekend to raise money for play equipment.
The Rock ‘n’ Rods dance, show ‘n’ shine is part of a fundraising initiative for the preschool but will get a few visitors toe tapping at the same time.
Fundraising secretary Darlene Chidgey said the kids were really looking forward to it.
“My kids can’t wait to get their gear on. Last year the band let them go up on stage and they were singing and dancing,” she said.
Ms Chidgey said while the event was family-oriented, it was more focused towards the adults.
The dance starts at 7.30pm tomorrow night and will feature rock ‘n’ roll band the Rockin Daddys.
Hot rods will also be on show, with trophies to go to the owners of the best.
There will also be a raffle, door prizes and an auction, with all prizes donated by local businesses.
“People won’t know what they’re bidding on which will make it more of a surprise,” Ms Chidgey said.
All funds raised on the night will go towards upgrading play equipment at Cranbourne Preschool.
The dance will be held at the Pakenham Hall, corner of Henry and John Streets, Pakenham.
Entry is $10, children under 16 are free. BYO drinks, food and nibblies. There will be some drinks and snacks for sale.
For information contact Darlene on 5996 5167 or 0402 405 015.
