HAMPTON Park residents have called for Casey Council to seal the remainder of a footpath in Clive Street Reserve.
Locals say the rocky road through the popular park is causing problems for pedestrians and school children who regularly walk the track.
Developers constructed a small section of the path but it was never continued through the park, linking it to Clive Street.
River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith said the gravel path turned to mud in winter and created dust in summer.
“Residents have been asking for some time for the path to be concreted,” he said at the last council meeting for 2005.
“In winter the path is just full of mud and puddles, making it difficult for people to walk or ride their bikes.
“The path gets a lot of use so something needs to be done.”
A report is due to come back to council early next month on the possibility of including the full construction of the path in council’s footpath construction program.
