A NARRE Warren South man was threatened with a knife during an armed robbery in Hampton Park last Thursday morning.
The 28-year-old man had got off the train at Hampton Park and was walking along Hallam Road about 1.30am when he was struck from behind.
He turned to find a group of eight to 10 men of Islander appearance, with more than half of them wearing red and blue bandannas covering their faces.
One of the men placed a knife to the victim’s throat and demanded his wallet.
Police said the victim handed over his wallet after a short struggle.
Another man demanded he take off his pants, then held a knife to his genitals, threatening to cut them off unless he gave them the PIN to his ATM card.
They then started kicking him before fleeing south along Hallam Road.
The victim was taken to hospital and received treatment for bruising and minor lacerations to the face and head.
Police said the man was still very distressed over the incident.
The offenders were described as in their early 20s and of Islander appearance.
Police urged anyone who may have seen a large group of men matching the description to contact Senior Constable Leigh Balthazaar of the Frankston Embona Taskforce on 9784 5543 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
