Pic 1: Hula dancers from Pakenham Stake Cultural Group represented Hawaii and the Cook Islands. THE City of Casey celebrated the close of the Winter Arts Program with an inspiring finale concert attended by more than 500 people at Berwick Church of Christ.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the event was “a fantastic family night out that featured traditional music and dance pieces from a wide range of cultural groups representing Casey’s diverse community”.
“The feedback from the audience was overwhelming,” he said.
The finale featured performances by the Maya Dance Group from El Salvador, Nuba Dancing Group from Sudan, Shivalayam Nadanalaya Indian Dance Group, Chinese fan dancer Mu Xin, Amancay Chilean Folkloric Group, Scotch Rocz, Pakenham Stake Cultural Group representing the Cook Islands, Hawaii and New Zealand, Casey Hungarian Senior Citizens Club and Celtic Feet from Ireland.
The Winter Arts program ran throughout July with a range of exhibitions, musical concerts, art and craft workshops, theatre performances and the multicultural finale concert.
Cr Bradford said the arts program was a testament to Casey’s thriving arts community.
“I would like to especially thank all the artists, groups, performers, council officers, volunteers and master of ceremonies, Cr Wayne Smith, for making the entire program and finale concert an amazing experience for the whole community,” he said.
