TOORADIN CFA is calling for community support to help fund an extension of the old station.
Members began clearing the Evans Road site on Saturday to make way for a new shed and training area.
Captain David Bulman said the extension would allow the station to be converted into an office and training centre for members.
He said the brigade was funding the full cost of the upgrade at an estimated $60,000.
“We are planning on making the station twice as big but we need community assistance,” he said.
“We will house the trucks in the new building so we can have more training room. We need this to supply an efficient and qualified fire service to the community.”
Mr Bulman said local businesses had already provided vital donations for the start of work on Saturday, including a fill and excavator from TGS, a wood chipper from Works Infrastructure and other equipment from Better Rentals.
He said other donations of goods or services would be appreciated.
For more information, contact Mr Bulman on 0419 532 023 or Cameron Devenney on 0400 109 330.
