THE Cranbourne community is revving up for the annual Motorcycle Riders Association (MRA) Cranbourne GP Run next month.
To hit the popular event this year is the arrival of a brand new mini feature attraction.
The Australian Motorcycle Expo will present GP Run Pocket Bikes.
The Pocket Bikes, or minimotos as they are called in Europe, are gaining momentum in Australia and are becoming popular among racing fans and riders.
Some of the world’s top motorcycle riders, including Valentino Rossi and Marco Melandri have raced pocket bikes for fun.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said thanks to the Australian Motorcycle Expo, everyone would be able to see the pocket bikes racing at the GP Run.
“The 2006 MRA Cranbourne GP Run is shaping up to be a show-stopper event with the arrival of this new Pocket Bike/Minimoto demonstration,” he said.
“This attraction will add even more colour and excitement to Casey’s biggest annual community event and it will be held on High St Cranbourne prior to the wave-off.”
On Saturday, 16 September, thousands of motorcycle riders will line High Street for the celebrity wave-off to travel to the MotoGP at Phillip Island.
The events starts from 8am, with the cel-ebrity wave-off at 10am.
