POLICE are searching for the whereabouts of a puppy stolen from Cranbourne South.
It is the latest in a series of ‘dognappings’ in Cranbourne.
The six-week-old Maltese shih-tsu, along with its brothers and sisters, had been advertised as for sale in the Trading Post.
On Saturday, 17 February police said someone broke into the shed of the Smiths Lane farm and only took the small white female with brown and black patches, known to its owners as Big Mama.
The pup was worth $330.
The theft happened between 10am and 5pm.
On Tuesday, 30 January 12-week-old purebred Staffordshire terrier Zeus was taken from the back yard of a Cranbourne home after someone ripped the paling off the back fence.
Zeus, who was in the Lesdon Avenue yard with two other dogs, mum Deanna, 3, also a purebred staffy, and Ben, 5, an Irish wolfhound cross, was stolen between 11am and midday.
At about the same time on the same day, two purebred golden retrievers were stolen from a house in Delmont Court in Cranbourne.
The owner was out shopping between 11.15am and 1pm on 30 January when thieves gained access to the back yard of the house and stole the two dogs.
The dogs were worth between $600 and $700 each.
On Sunday, 14 January, a Cranbourne woman was horrified when someone found her three-year-old purebred beagle Millie at the BP station on Cranbourne-Frankston Road then decided to keep it.
Anyone with information about the missing Maltese shih-tsu is urged to contact Senior Constable Tim Gleeson from Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
