HAMPTON Park Primary School students rocked to the beat of a different drum last week when the Beaconhills College band came to town.
Hampton Park principal Christine Wakeling said the performance was part of the secondary school’s community service program and was thoroughly enjoyed by staff and students.
“The band performs for kids in local primary schools and they were just fantastic,” she said.
Ms Wakeling said students sang along to new and old-time favourites and even tried their hand at playing some of the band’s instruments.
“It was a great opportunity for the kids to hear a live band,” she said.
“The band demonstrated their instruments and what they could do and then showed the kids a range of music they could play.
“The conductor involved the kids and they were able to get up and join in.
“They were rapt. Everyone really enjoyed the show.”
