Arts program warms the chill

CASEY residents are urged to brave the cold and expand their horizons this July by taking part in a wide range of local arts experiences.
Casey’s winter arts program includes an exciting line-up of more than 35 different events for people of all ages to enjoy.
Highlights of the program include:
– More than 25 different free activities to take part in, including scrap booking and African drumming through the Come and Try Art Workshop program.
– Aspiring young playwrights (aged 12 and over) can learn how to write their own play scripts using books as their inspiration in the free BooxBox session by Rah-Rah Productions on 2, 3 and 6 July.
– Arts lovers and enthusiasts can enjoy a range of exhibitions and works on offer as well as an opportunity to meet well known wildlife artists Janet Matthews and Brad Trembath and discuss techniques in the A Range of Inspiration session.
– Monash Multimedia exhibition evening featuring 3D animations and short films by graduate and current students of Monash University Berwick Campus on Friday, 20 July, as well as the Outtakes Film and Art Festival exploring the theme “imagine” on Friday, 27 July.
– Battle of the Bands competition with the grand final on Friday, 27 July.
– Older audiences will enjoy the upcoming BATS Theatre Company’s performance of Rumours.
– Selected residential care facilities in Casey will be able to enjoy concerts by Garland and Coster, Just Harmony Choir, Cranbourne Lions Concert Band, Eumemmerring College Concert Band, Seren-dipity Concert Party, Harmony Capers, and singer Bronwyn Armstrong.
– Winter Arts Finale Concert – a free concert for all ages to be held at the Berwick Church of Christ on Saturday, 28 July.
