Seniors activate a positive lifestyle

CASEY’S senior citizens took Seniors Week to a whole new level by getting active and having fun at the Active Ageing – Give it a Go Day.
Held at Casey Fields last week, local seniors took part in fishing, a lake walk, strength exercises and aerobics, tennis, bowls, cycling and board games.
The free day of social interaction, exercise and fun was part of the City of Casey’s Ageing Positively Festival.
This year’s event featured a full day of activities and information stalls run by local groups and organisations, with guest speaker Tony Rafferty providing plenty of inspiration to the older residents.
Mr Rafferty was the first man to run from Melbourne to Sydney, pioneering ultra-distance running in Australia and breaking numerous records.
City of Casey community development manager Janette Green said the Ageing Positively Festival celebrated the significant and valuable contributions that older people made to the Casey community.
She said it was also a great way to join together and socialise and get active at the same time.
