PEARCEDALE’S Remembrance Day commemorations were again a strong rival of its neighbours with a five-plane flyover.
With a gathering of more than 130 people, Maureen Smollen, who organised the event along with husband John and the Pearcedale Public Hall committee of management, said it was a service that the Pearcedale community could be proud of.
Sunday’s service was assisted by the Cerberus Cenotaph Party along with Casey mayor Colin Butler, Sub Lieutenant Peter Bartholomeusz from HMAS Cerberus, Hastings MP Neale Burgess, and Jim Cunningham and Don Davis from Cranbourne RSL.
Kaylene Butterworth sang a beautiful rendition of the John Lennon song Imagine, while the song Can You Hear The Australian Soldiers Marching was also played.
Mrs Smollen said the five-plane flyover, which featured for the first time last year, was awesome.
“The whole service was very inspiring and a credit to all concerned,” she said.
