LOCAL students have been rewarded for their community spirit and leadership.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne recently congratulated 59 students who were presented with Community Spirit and Leadership Awards.
“It is a great opportunity to be able to honour the achievements of these students,” Mr Byrne said.
“These young people help to enrich our schools and communities and we all should be very proud of their contribution.”
He said the students’ actions had set an example for their peers and to all in the community.
The Community Spirit and Leadership Awards is an annual event which is organised by Mr Byrne to acknowledge students who contribute actively to their school and local community.
Those efforts could be through volunteering for school activities or helping other students to be involved in school life.
Last December, each student was presented with a framed certificate and a $30 Angus and Robertson book voucher.
More than 51 local schools participated in last year’s Community Spirit and Leadership Awards and more than 300 students, teachers and families attended the presentation ceremony at the City of Casey Council chambers.
