CRANBOURNE MP Jude Perera has reminded local small business operators to have their say in the development of Victoria’s new Small Business Statement due in November.
The State Government launched a discussion paper on small business issues early last month and public submissions were invited until 19 August.
Mr Perera said the statement would be the Government’s blueprint to drive future growth and prosperity for the state’s small business sector.
“A critical part of developing the statement is listening and learning from small business operators and encouraging them to make submissions,” he said.
Mr Perera said thousands of copies of the Small Business Issues discussion paper had been distributed through Government business offices, councils, other business groups and through requests to the Victorian Business Line.
“Victoria’s small businesses are doing a fantastic job and it is important the State Government periodically reassesses how it can best support their needs.
“By getting involved and providing feedback, individual small businesses will be helping to make sure this statement hits the mark for the entire sector and that is a great contribution to be making,” he said.
The Issues Paper identifies five themes that are essential to small business growth and development in Victoria, including promoting a fairer business environment, encouraging high business growth, jobs and export and skilling small business for the future.
For more information about how to make a submission to the Issues Paper visit www.business.vic.gov.au/sbstatement or telephone the Victorian Business Line on 132215.
