Reverse rampage wrecks shop

A CAR went on a backwards rampage through Cranbourne last Friday when its driver lost control in reverse.
Police said a 72-year-old Cranbourne man was pulling out of the carpark on Lurline Street just before 1pm when he accidentally put the gears into reverse instead of drive.
The car backed out onto the street over the median strip, continued reversing across the street into a parked car then mounted the kerb and smashed through an op shop and continued all the way to the back of the shop.
Police said the man said the accelerator had got stuck after hitting reverse.
The accident caused major damage to the shop and the shop’s manager was conveyed to Dandenong Hospital after suffering shock.
The driver was uninjured.
