PRIVATE schools in Cranbourne are set for a major funding boost.
Non-government schools in the electorate will share in an additional $464,263 next year, Cranbourne MP Jude Perera announced this week.
The schools to receive a funding increase include St Agatha’s Primary School, St Peter’s College and Cranbourne Christian College.
Mr Perera said the extra funds would help meet the rising costs of education in non-government schools and ensure they continue to deliver a quality education.
“The funding boost is part of a four-year agreement so the schools will know what additional funds to expect and be able to plan ahead with confidence.”
“By boosting support to non-government schools, the State Government is providing families with a wider choice of schools,” he said.
Mr Perera said the new funding for non-government schools was part of an overall package of $868 million in extra funding for education and training in Victoria.
“As a result of this funding boost, non-government schools in Victoria will now have access to an extra $151 million over the next four years.
“The new funding model also means that this additional funding is directed to schools with students most in need of additional support. In this way, the Government has ensured the non-government schools are accountable in helping to lift numeracy, literacy and retention rates,” he said.
