Doggone facilities come up a winner

GUESTS were given a sneak preview of the newly refurbished Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club last week.
Racing Minister John Pandazopoulos, Cranbourne MP Jude Perera and local breeders and trainers took a guided tour of the recently completed $1 million revamp on Thursday.
Mr Pandazopoulos said the 30yearold facilities were in dire need of upgrades, including the old twotier kennels that posed a safety risk to both trainers and dogs.
“The new stateoftheart kennels, built at ground level, have been made from plastic, making them not only easier to access but also more hygienic and easier to clean,” he said.
Mr Pandazopoulos said the greyhounds had not been the only ones to benefit from the renovations.
“The office also received an upgrade ensuring those who use the club from members to trainers to breeders will have a modern and safe workplace to use into the future.
“The previous office was small and the renovations will be welcomed by many,” he said.
Mr Pandazopoulos said the racing club was one of the busiest greyhound clubs in Victoria. He said the works had been funded by the club and Greyhound Racing Victoria.
“The southeastern region is a growing area and the club is used by many local breeders and trainers each week.
“The works will benefit the growing club, deliver benefits to the local economy and surrounding local business.
“Better facilities mean more patrons, more visitors to Cranbourne and more business for local shops,” he said.
