Man escapes picket attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man armed with a star iron picket attempted to attack a Cranbourne West man.
The incident occurred in Fairhaven Boulevard, Cranbourne, when the man, 55, was on his way home.
The assailant swung the picket around his head and took a couple of swings at the victim, who then ran inside his house, police said.
The man was unharmed.
Police said the incident occurred about 4.30pm on 24 April. The offender has been described as a Caucasian man in his early 40s.
