Get smitten by a kitten

RSPCA Peninsula is desperately urging residents to make room in their homes for one more.
Forty cats at the Pearcedale shelter face being put to sleep if homes are not found in time.
The 30 adult cats and 10 kittens available for adoption are said to be friendly and affectionate and range from long-haired to short-haired, pure white, jet black, tabby and ginger.
But only half are expected to find homes while the rest will have to be euthanased.
Shelter spokeswoman Jenny Atkins said as an incentive to adopt the cats who have been there for a long time, the shelter is offering a bag of cat food valued at $20 with the sale of these cats.
“We have a really beautiful selection of cats at the shelter at the moment,” she said.
“A visit to the cattery is really worthwhile for anyone considering a cat as a pet.
“We have a lovely facility to walk through and view the animals, including large outdoor jungle areas where it is fascinating to watch the behaviour of the cats and how they interact with each other.
“They are all individuals, with quite different personalities. The one thing they have in common is their need for human affection.”
All the cats are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed.
The RSPCA urged all cat owners to have their cats desexed to minimise the numbers of unwanted cats in the community.
RSPCA Peninsula is open seven days a week between 11am and 4pm and is located on the corner of Robinsons Road and Smiths Lane in Pearcedale. Phone 5978 6706 for details.
