Lynbrook to get station

LYNBROOK will have its own train station after the State Government announced it would spend $18.6 million to build the new public transport facility.
Local residents have long campaigned for a station to be built in Lynbrook and from 2010 will no longer be forced to travel to Dandenong to catch the train.
Lyndhurst MP Tim Holding said he was delighted with the announcement and believes it will benefit many people in the local area.
“I’m thrilled about the long-awaited initiative and it has consolidated the great work the State Government has done for the locals in the Lynbrook area,” Mr Holding said.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford also said he was extremely happy with the decision to build the new station and said it was a great result for the community members who had campaigned vigorously.
The Lynbrook station is part of the State Government’s $338 million transport plan.
Peak-hour travel times on the Monash Freeway are set to be slashed.
The project will provide an additional lane on the Monash Freeway in both directions between Glenferrie and Heatherton Roads, saving more than 20 minutes in travel time.
